Nights in Rodanthe

But there’s another kind of love, Amanda. One that gives you the courage to be better than you are, not less than you are. One that makes you feel that anything is possible. I want you to know that you could have that. I want you to hold out for it. (Adrienne Willis, Nights in Rodanthe, 2008)

This conversation of Adrienne with her daughter, Amanda, resonated in my mind even after watching it after hours of swimming… Thought I could sleep but it turned out not…

Nights in Rodanthe is a typical Nicholas Sparks. Who could ever forget Message in a Bottle, A Walk to Remember, The Notebook, and The Guardian. All are heart wrenching stories that leave you with lingering thoughts, tight gut and lump in the throat.

My cousin bought a DVD after seeing a novel left on my table…well, after telling her to try to look for one if there is an available copy in the market. It seems, she wanted to watch a movie after gloomy afternoon. The truth is, it is my curiosity that made me watch it. A month ago, a friend sent SMS about the movie. It came so strong to her that she couldn’t help crying. What is it in that movie?

I bought the novel before but haven’t had the chance to read it. And, I bought one again lately! I realized that I bought it twice! OMG! Too tired to check the books that I have!

Just what I am saying, I watched the movie though I haven’t finished the novel yet. It is about two individuals, in turmoil of their respective lives, fated by destiny to be in Rodanthe in order to put order in their chaotic life while in the middle of storm only to be plunged into romance that resonated through out their lives…and the people around them.

Whew! Probably, I cannot relate with the story or just too tired with my stinging eyes due to swimming for hours but one thing that I could say: One cannot realize the importance of a person until he is gone. Though he may be gone, there is that love and hope that he left behind…wanting the one left behind to do better and make everything possible…

My friend, all you have to do is move on and, I know, he wanted you to hold out for it— the possibility of being better or even the best that you can.
